Nabi Karim accident
National News:The sudden change of weather in the capital Delhi and NCR (Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad) on Saturday caused heavy havoc. The strong rains and the storm at a speed of about 50 km per hour disturbed life. Three people died in wall fall incidents during the rains, while trees, hoardings and structures were damaged in many places.
In a residential area of Delhi, 3 laborers died after a wall collapsed. It is being told that the deceased was working at a construction site, when the strong wind dropped the wall with rain. The shed of a Delhi Metro station flew into the air, causing chaos. Although no one was reported injured in this incident, traffic at the station was affected for some time. In Gurugram and Noida, trees were uprooted at many places, traffic signals failed and power supply was interrupted. There have also been reports of waterlogging in many areas.
Local residents also helped the fire brigade personnel in removing the debris. Some people said that many laborers had reached the site in the morning for construction work, after which this accident happened. People are afraid that more people might be buried under the rubble.
Teams of Delhi Municipal Corporation and District Administration have also reached the spot. In the preliminary investigation, it is feared that safety standards may have been ignored in the construction. The administration has ordered an investigation into the causes of the accident and it is also being seen whether the necessary approval was taken for the construction work or not.
This accident once again raises questions on the condition of dilapidated and illegal constructions in the capital. Such incidents in densely populated areas like Nabi Karim not only cause loss of life and property, but also raise questions on the security system of the city.
